Fifth Update
Ryan S -
Hello everyone!
This week I’ve focused on consolidating my data and attempting to draw a path to take a conclusion. Since I was out of town for a lot this week, I was not able to meet with my site placement as much. However, I was able to gather my data and bring it to potential conclusions. I have discovered so far that:
- The best way a student can learn the ground material for their private pilot license is to explore what studying habits work best for them, and putting in the work. Sometimes it is not as straight forward as one study habit, but overall the student needs to find what works best and study all they can. Becoming a private pilot should be treated like a job (in regards to the effort put in) for maximum outcome.
- The instructor needs to ensure the student has adequately absorbed the material taught, preferably by having the student teach it back to the instructor. This forces the student to recall all known information about a topic, and it also does not allow any weak spots to be covered up. As seen when student instructors train to become certified instructors, having to be fully knowledgeable and teach a topic shows oneself all areas that are weak and need to be reviewed. This is crucial not only for the final license test, but also for further knowledge and future training.
As I continue to meet with my site placement, I will gather and refine more potential conclusions.
