Hey everyone! This week, I’ve finally officially moved onto the next phase of my research. Now that I’ve confirmed that there is a disproportionate false positive bias, which aligns with existing literature, but is more up to date, it’s time to see what adaptations can be made for a difference to be seen.

Unfortunately, other than that development, this week has actually been rather quiet. As researchers, we’re always more excited about the breakthroughs and tangible progress made but underlying all of that is the patience required in troubleshooting and getting everything to work. The good news is that I’m still ahead of schedule for the overall project. So today, I thought I’d mix things up and give you a glimpse of what a typical research day would look like for me.

My day usually starts off with some coffee. While I enjoy my drink, I catch up on my emails and blog comments just so that I can stay connected. Next, I review some of the plans that I have for the day and have a clear picture of what I intend to get done. This week, I’ve been spending this time refining the datasets that I am going to use for training, which is tedious but necessary work.

Next up is coding time, where I’ve lately been dealing with the side of AI research that isn’t so glamorous. Bugs, data formatting errors, and other things are part of this process. After a quick lunch, it’s back to the grind though. Usually, this means running tests and collecting data.

To wrap it up, I jot down my day’s progress and make any adjustments necessary to my plan to move forward.

I hope you guys enjoyed that glimpse into my authentic routine. Next week, I’m really hopeful that things are going to start picking up.
