This week was very slow so I don’t really have that much to talk about as both me and my mentor both got pretty sick and weren’t able to meet in person in the lab to finish the rest of the trials or conduct further research. Therefore most of my effort was spent on the code which I was able to fix partially so that a result for the t-test was displayed. Now all I need to do is split the data I have so far which is the five trials of D2O or heavy water into 5 distinct groups which are separate then the other groups in the experiment. This week I also plan to run DMSO which is safe in small quantities as I am now realizing the amount of solvents in the lab are pretty limited as most have to be deuterated in order to work. As like before I plan to run it in 5 different trials with the same proportional ratios although I will have to be wary of the smell as DMSO, because of the sulfur in it, has a rotten egg scent to it. Incidentally, this is a concern or limitation of mine as patients may have difficulties in swallowing the foul tablets without throwing up which would obviously decrease the efficacy of the medicine. Hopefully, next week I can bring a report of how the trial with the DMSO went as well as possibly finishing up all the remaining code so that all that’s left is the rest of the data collection.
