Week 12: The End!

Aryan R -

Introduction

Well, this is going to be the last blog post of the year for me and will be the wrap-up of one of the most unique experiences in my life! The blog added a “realness” to the work that I did throughout the school year. It really made my research feel like it wasn’t just for a niche group of people, but rather a wider audience that could properly benefit from understanding and recognizing what I did in my work. I think writing a blog really helped me verbalize and list out the process that I went through-helping me contextualize my research in a way that made it easy for me to create my presentation, but also create documentation that allows others to repeat this process if necessary. Overall, while I cut the deadlines a little close sometimes, the blog was one of the constants in my rapidly changing life.

Thank You’s!

I would like to thank Professor Antia S. Botana from Arizona State University and a graduate student Yifeng Zhao from the same university for providing me the opportunity to work on this project and investing the time and effort needed to catch me up to speed, thoroughly train me, and humor me while I asked a boundless amount of questions. A quick shout out to Arhanth-another high school student that I partially mentored and worked alongside with through this process. In school, thank you Dr. Georgi for agreeing to be my advisor on such short notice and for making sure that I was always on track. And finally, last but not least, thank you to all the readers (especially you Mrs. Conley!) that came along this journey with me and read the yap that I produced, stuff that sometimes isn’t the easiest to understand given the nature of the topic. 😉

My Presentation! 🙂

If you want to come by and support me, I will be presenting what we discussed together in my blog over these past 12 weeks on May 14th, in Room 208 at 3:30 pm. That is the only time I will be sharing and explaining my presentation in person (oooh, exclusive!) and I will be more than happy to answer any questions that anyone has. Feel free to stop by! While there is no next time, no next blog post to await for, I truly wish you all an amazing rest of your day, week, month, year, and life!

Congrats on finishing your research, Aryan! I loved how you mentioned the “realness” the blogs added to your research. Do you think documenting your process this way changed how you view your work compared to just doing a final paper or presentation?

Definitely, because for better or for worse, a final paper/presentation focuses more on using "the process" as a supplement to to the end result. It only exists in its final state. But a blog peels away the layers of perfection you would have because you have to do it in real time without the benefit of hindsight. Will probably keep doing something similar to this in the future!

Hi Aryan, congrats on finishing your SRP!! It must be a bittersweet feeling. Good luck on your presentation on May 14 — I’m sure it’ll be a fun watch! It’s been cool seeing how you used the blog to make your research accessible and real. Wishing you the best with everything ahead.

Congratulations on reaching the finish line, Aryan! I appreciate the way you were able to take a seemingly complicated topic and develop it into an intelligible subject that I can not only understand but discuss with my own peers. Your writing was also entertaining and I looked forward to reading it each week. Thank you for sharing your findings with us!
