Blog Post #12

Arnav K -

Hello everyone, thanks for coming back to my blog for one last time.

This is my last blog post for my research project. Looking back, it’s crazy to think about how much work has gone into this, from figuring out my research question to writing code, analyzing data, and now finally finishing the paper and presentation. The entire process taught me a lot about how research actually works and how important it is to be flexible when things don’t go exactly as planned.

One of the biggest things I learned was how to take something I’ve experienced personally, like debate, and turn it into a full research project. Being able to combine data collection, statistical testing, and argument analysis all into one study made the experience really meaningful to me. I was able to explore trends in Lincoln-Douglas debate that I’ve seen over the years and back them up with actual data.

At this point, I’ve submitted my paper and completed my presentation. I’m proud of the work I’ve done, and I feel like I’ve grown not just as a researcher but also as a writer and speaker. Thanks to everyone who’s followed along with these posts; this has been a really fun experience from start to finish.

Congratulations on finishing your project, Arnav! Now that you've finished, is there anything you would have done differently if you had the chance to go back and redo this project?

It may only be a high school project now, but your future will be full of needed flexibility when life doesn't happen the way we expect. You handled it all like a pro and we're proud of you. You're quite the expert on debate now!
