The sky’s the limit!

Sidd s -

I have some major updates this week regarding my project, and I couldn’t be more excited to share them with you.

First, I finally booked my first flight lesson! It’s happening this Friday, and I can’t wait. The lesson will be an hour and a half long, covering the basics of flying a plane. We’ll be flying up to the Superstition Mountains, circling the area, and getting a feel for handling the aircraft for the first time. I’ve taken off in an airplane more times than I can count, but this will be my first time in the pilot’s seat. This is the moment I’ve been working towards for a while now, and I’m determined to make the most of it.

Before I step into the cockpit, however, there’s a lot of preparation to do. This week—and for the rest of the project—I’ll be completing ground school. This is a course designed to teach novice pilots the fundamentals of flying, airport navigation, and other knowledge. Ground school will also prepare me for the FAA exam, which I plan to take in April or early May.

This project has even more potential. In addition to pursuing my pilot license, I’ve decided to interview experienced pilots who have gone through this same process. I’ve already reached out to a couple of them, and I’ll keep you updated as I hear back. These conversations will not only help me gain insight into the field, but will also allow me to share what I learn with others.

I’m so excited for this next phase of my journey, and I’ll be sure to keep you updated every step of the way!

Hey Sidd! It's great that you finally have a date set for your first flight, and it would be great if you could somehow have some photos taken (you obviously can't take pictures while operating the plane) showing the plane itself or the surrounding area. As for my question, I was wondering what specific topics have been the most difficult for you so far in ground school training, and how are you approaching them to ensure you are fully prepared for your FAA Exam.

What's up Sidd? I think it's really interesting how you have to undergo ground school before the FAA exam because I've never heard of something like that before. I look forward to hearing more about your experience with ground school in future posts. I was wondering though, have you done any kind of flight simulations yet? If so, what kind of program do you use and what equipment do you have for it?

This is actually really cool. Good luck on your first flight! What are some of the principles you learn in ground school about flying? Looking forward to hearing how your flight goes!

Sidd, I hope you enjoy your first flight in training; that's really cool! What do you hope to learn from the pilots you plan to interview, and where will you find them?
