Research on Robotics Begins!

Hello everyone! For the beginning stage of my senior project, I am working on gathering specific online materials that I will be able to use to help me build the foundation of this course. I will specifically be looking for other robotics courses that I could draw inspiration from. I will then use this base to build off with more advanced course material the farther I get with my project. Soon after this, I will be conducting research on possible source materials that I can incorporate into my presentation. Due to my knowledge of some robotics principles that are related to artificial intelligence, I plan to add that into my presentation. My site placement will be a mixture between my own home and BASIS Mesa. I am really excited about finally starting my research on several online courses from which I would be able to lay the foundation for the final presentation. This presentation will be my product at the end of this project. For now, it’s back to basics!

    Hey MJ, I just wanted start by saying that I think it's great that you are building a course on robotics, but I was still wondering something. Who is this course that you are making going to go to? Are you going to send it to schools, or put it on the internet, or maybe something else?

    Hi MJ, I really like this idea! What specific robotics courses will you draw from to model your own robotics course? Do you have any university programs that you want to model your course after?

    Hello Joaquin! Thanks for your interest in my robotics course! This course will be an attempt at integrating a robotics course into the BASIS Mesa curriculum specifically, since some other BASIS schools already have some version of a course on robotics. As my part of my product, I will be presenting my layout and overall vision of the project via presentation to our Director of Academic Programs, and will hopefully get it made into a class, most likely as an elective that students who are interested could take.

    Hello Sidd, thank you for your interest in my idea of making a course on robotics. As for your question, I am still unsure about any specific courses that I will draw from to make my own course, however, in generalities, I am planning to take several materials from universities (I know that Mesa Community College has several resources to offer that I might or might not use, depending on what else I find) as well as several robotics kits that I can find through VEX Robotics that I could integrate into my robotics curriculum. I want my curriculum to be at least somewhat unique, and thus I am not really looking to "model" my course after any other course, just simply taking some ideas from a variety of ones.

    Hello Nico! As for what I am specifically doing this first week of my project, I am simply looking for online resources I can use to get a basic idea of the structure of the course (such as what should be taught first versus last), as well as resources for possible robotics kits I could use to assist in learning the concepts along the way.
