Week 8: Time To Be Brutally Honest: No More Procrastination
Cindy h -
Hello everyone! Welcome back to the world of philosophical respect and political divide (with some fun procrastination sprinkled throughout).
On the note of philosophy, this past weekend had much of it 🙂 My team and I traveled to North Carolina to compete at Ethics Bowl Nationals! Though there were a few curbs hit and a bit of turbulence on the plane, no people were lost, and we performed really well 🙂 Here are some fun photos of all of us:

Since we spent all weekend being proponents for government transparency in a variety of ethical dilemmas, I suppose I should be transparent here about my progress on the research project front. As a result of being at Nationals and being out of town for five days, not many things have been happening on the research project front 😅. I’ll give a quick summary of the new information that I have gotten.
First, my survey has closed, and we have a total of 78 responses! Thank you to everyone who took the survey! I was originally hoping for somewhere around 100, but now that I”m looking at it after pushing the deadline back, 78 actually seems more optimal. It’s a nice in-between where I have enough responses, but won’t be overwhelmed with too many responses to analyze.
Second, I wanted to say thank you to Julie and Cassandra for helping me throughout this survey process, whether it be formatting the survey, sending it out, or keeping me updated on all the responses!
Speaking of responses, I have gotten an in-depth report of all the survey responses. This brings me to my third update; I’m realizing that with the formatting of the results, it’s likely that I’m going to have to spend some time formatting everything into an easily digestible format.
Onto my tasks for this week!
As mentioned above, I’m going to be formatting all the survey results this week, and once that’s done, I will start to analyze my data.
Writing my paper! Since I’m doing my data analysis, I hope to write the data analysis section of my paper. The deadline to submit is April 30th… (recall: procrastination), so it is time to lock in (I think this qualifies as brain rot) and get this paper written.
Finishing my slides: my slides have started, but to be brutally transparent, since last week, I haven’t made any progress 😅. All I have are the slides I had made before leaving for Ethics Bowl, so I need to finish those.
However, completing both my paper and slides hinges on getting my data analyzed. So my first order of priority is getting that done, so I can move on to completing my other items. The deadline for the presentation is a bit later than the paper (which is due on the 30th), so I’ll probably be getting everything done in the order presented above.
I will hopefully have good news next week on these tasks I have outlined. Fingers crossed I can get them done! And as always, thank you for reading 🙂
